WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY

(3 Minutes) $35
Member Rate $16 – $25

Whole Body Cryotherapy involves exposing your body to cold, inducing a number of physiological changes in the body. Initially, as the blood vessels constrict, blood moves away from the limbs and toward the vital organs. This is a protective measure the body takes in response to the extreme cold. Several systems within the body are triggered, and the benefits begin. The immune system increases white blood cell count, the circulatory system reacts to increase productivity, and inflammation is significantly reduced. In addition, the endocrine system jumps into action to release endorphins and norepinephrine that inflate “feel good” hormones in the blood stream. Studies have shown a reduction in cortisol and an increase in testosterone and DHEA. Cryotherapy induces a total systemic response that offers many advantages:

Boost Recovery

Reduce Inflammation

Increase Range of Motion

Brain Health

Improve Endurance

Better Sleep

Pain Relief

Boost Immune System

Fat Burning

Reduce Anxiety | Depression

Skin Improvements

Increase Energy

Brain Health

Expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism and cold shock proteins are increased under cold exposure. Most notably, the cold shock protein RBM3 (RNA binding protein), has been shown to protect the connections between neurons, which protects the brain from both short and long term damage.

Pain-relief

The increase in norepinephrine is not only helpful for neurological and cognitive function, but it also seems to decrease inflammation by lowering TNF alpha levels. Since inflammation worsens chronic illness and pain, a reduction would promote healing. A randomized control trial has shown whole body cryotherapy to significantly decrease arthritis-related pain.

Anti-inflammatory

Although cold exposure and increased levels of norepinephrine decreases inflammation by suppressing some parts of the immune system, it can increase production of other immune cells like natural killer cells. NK cells are important as they help us to fight pathogens like viruses and bacteria, and aid in killing cancer cells.

Fat burning

Cold exposure and norepinephrine have also been linked to increased production of brown fat in humans. Brown fat is called such due to the increased number of mitochondria that these fat cells contain that give it a brownish color. Mitochondria are the energy-producing units within our cells. Having more of them will not only allow for production of more energy but also more energy use, increasing metabolism.

Antioxidant effect

Whole body cryotherapy has been shown to increase antioxidant activity via increased glutathione activity when used for 3 minutes daily for 10 days.

SPOT TREATMENT [Localized vs Whole Body Treatments]

Localized treatments are typically used for acute injury situations such as sprains | strains, tendonitis, edema, or post-surgical pain, and in many cases after Whole Body Treatments.

Whole body cryotherapy treatments are used in chronic conditions or to reduce muscle pain and fatigue in athletes, to improve sleep + energy levels, and to reduce inflammation throughout the body.

All I have to say is WOW!! I am new to cryotherapy and was a little nervous about doing it. The staff made me feel right at home and were more than happy to answer any questions or concerns I had. The next thing I know, I was in the cryochamber. How was it? AMAZING! The office is beautiful and staff makes you feel comfortable and right at home.

Ahhhmazing! I did cryo. Dani was awesome and talked to me the entire 3 minutes. I slept really well last night and felt great. Extremely clean, one stop wellness shop. Well worth the points. A MUST!

Alyssa was so great, she gave me a tour of the entire spa and detailed all the services offered before taking me back to the cryotherapy room. She talked to me throughout the session and helped distract me from the freezing cold! It was a great first experience with cryotherapy – she was professional and upbeat. I would definitely try cryotherapy here, or other services at Evolve.
